Greetings! This holiday season reminds me again of the pleasures of living and breathing and moving freely, and for all the things we are able to see, touch, feel, smell and hear around and in our places of comfort. For USA accomplishments in the name of us citizens—mercenaries’ genocidal industry installed in Iraq; Guantánamo encampment; and wealth distributors brazenly finessing citizens’ financial freedom into fear—my holiday gratitude roils until sentiments spew coldly sardonic, at times.
Not too overstated is the salutation Happy Holiday Season, a repeated deep mockery of many Americans’ feelings about USA history. The savory symbol of Thanksgiving, a turkey seasoned and roasted properly with parroted platitudes of piety, lulls an apathetic conscious onto breasts of comfy deities, while whiffs of bigotry and racism mix utmost hypocrisy with the finely baked bird awaiting its ethereal blessings at table. Our frequently adjusted yet endless sights for brighter futures in USA are of little consequence considering, lest we forget, layers of incessant suppressions in myriad cultures of our global sisters and brothers. As we observe via Internet creative ideas bubbling out of imaginations all over the world, still humans of good faith are thwarted and become distracted by wars that escalate economic gains for narcissistic entities whose legacies are not held accountable for the Thanks-taking of peace.
