About Daily Candy

Here’s a personal writing assignment that wouldn’t let go until it chiseled its way out of me. The piece is not entirely what you may think.

Have you heard about Daily Candy?

Daily Candy is a light-hearted communiqué that brings you the most creative, quick-read reviews of products and services you can imagine receiving in your inbox. Each of the dailies’ hand drawn images are graceful, wispy eye candy.

If you are familiar with J. Peterman Company’s catalogs, those writers’ fascinating anecdotes of intrigue or light pleasure are reminisced as you read scenarios from Daily Candy. Charming descriptions are meant to entice you to purchase the ultimate, snappy things featured.

The writing style in Candy is never sweet, edges quirky but clever and breezy; attractive drawings and photos are colorful and professional adding respite to your already railroaded senses.

The authors alternate subjects of A to Z tips, cooking tidbits, dining; facials, garments, deluxe greeting cards (the real kinds); luggage, manly tools, sunglasses, travel; and everything else but a kitchen sink. And, that might show up any day, now.

You get to choose which Daily Candy will display enchantments from Boston, Dallas, London, New York, and San Francisco; there’s another email for stuff kids like, and still another for general interests. That totals at least seven daily messages from which you may indulge tendencies for browsing, tipsy with crazy.

If you let the mailings stack up for weeks as I have, and, if you’re ever in want for ideas of good titles, then the communiqués’ subject lines are worth your while for stimulating amusing metaphor.

I’ve yet to receive a prized Godiva for this, whatever it is I have written that was a personal assignment for yesterday’s writing. Composing this piece eased my mind from the challenges on our planet, and opened a moment to hustle you with a slice of laissez faire: do you see how easily we divert ourselves from our empathic nature invisibly humming between us?
