Coaching Angelic

The term ‘angelic lobes’ was coined by a neuroscientist for a section
of the brain called prefrontal cortex. Through the cortex, love, compassion,
empathy, spiritual experience—all ranges of intimacy, awareness, and feeling
– are discerned in what I call coaching angelic. Notice the cortex does
not initiate nor produce those discernments; it allows them.
But, between the heart and the brain, like the betrayed spouse, the brain is
last to know. Among the physical heart’s capabilities, the heart senses
experiences before they appear, and signals the approach without a judgment
call to the brain. The brain signals the judgment call back to the heart, and
they both zip into appropriate action. The process takes less than a blink of
your eyes.
Here’s my take on the next level of coaching…
As female and male coaches applaud scientific discoveries about the physical
heart being keener than the brain, coaches and the industry might remove desensitizing
language from their advertising. Today’s highly commercialized, ‘go
for the gold’ or ‘go for the pain’ coaching is not going to
last, but empathic coaching will.
Perhaps the heart and language of coaching angelic could again feature the
fundamental distinctions upon which coaching was founded. I want to believe
coaching might help unconceal harmony through civility, ready to breathe, angelic.
